ENGLISH

U.S. English should be the official language of government. All election ballots and other government documents should be printed in English. New immigrants should be required to learn English. Government should offer intensive English language instruction to all who need it, including stipends to help immigrants attend the programs. Businesses should be able to require employees to speak the English language while on the job.

AMERICAN CIVILIZATION

The United States should only grant citizenship to those who want to embrace American values and culture and pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.. It is important to have references to God in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Declaration of Independence—that we are endowed by our Creator with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—because they make clear that certain rights can’t be taken away by government. Statements regarding religion and morality made by the Founding Fathers are just as important today as they were 200 years ago. I reject the idea that the times change and the language in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Declaration of Independence must change with the times. The language in the Pledge and the Declaration are very important and must be protected. Public schools should teach more American history

IMMIGRATION, THE BORDER, AND ASSIMILATION

The American people want to increase the number of visas for highly-educated immigrants or those with special skills, the so-called H1B and H2B visas.

The American people believe border control is a security issue. Terrorists and drug dealers are trying to enter the United States illegally. Illegal immigrants who commit felonies should be deported or jailed. There should be a worker visa program making it easier for people to work legally in the United States. Allowing illegal immigrants to remain in this country undermines respect for the law. Therefore to join a worker visa program workers must apply from their own country. They can not apply from the United States and must return home first. When applying for a temporary worker visa each worker should take an oath to obey American law and be deported if they commit a crime while in the United States. In a worker visa program each worker will receive a tamper-proof identification card that will allow the government to track him or her.

Page2

Each worker will go to immigration centers in their home country that will help them find jobs in the United States so they apply for a visa with a job in hand. The employer will be responsible for the whereabouts of the worker and report if the immigrant no longer is employed.

A real time verification system should be established to verify immigration status and it should be outsourced to companies like American Express, Visa, or MasterCard so businesses can immediately identify whether or not someone has forged papers. No company should market services such as credit cards or bank accounts specifically to people who are in the United States illegally.

There should be heavy monetary fines against employers and businesses who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. The Internal Revenue Service should conduct audits of companies who hire illegal immigrants to determine if those companies have paid the taxes they owe.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

There will be incredible possibilities to meet our country’s challenges in a variety of fields because in the next 25 years there will be 4 to 7 times the amount of new science and technology in the world as in the last 25 years.

Therefore we should dramatically increase our investment in math and science education. We must rely on innovation and new technology if we are going to compete successfully with India and China.

PRIZES

Prizes should be given to companies and individuals that invent creative ways to solve problems. I support giving large financial prizes to companies and individuals who invent an affordable car that gets 100 miles to the gallon.

I support giving a large financial prize to the first company or individual who invents new ways to successfully cut pollution.

I support giving a large financial prize to the first company or individual who invents a new, safer way to dispose of nuclear waste products.

ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

We have an obligation to be good stewards of God’s creation for future generations. We can have a healthy economy and a healthy environment.

We can solve our environmental problems faster and cheaper with innovation and new technology than with more litigation and more government regulation.

                                                                                   Page3

Entrepreneurs are more likely to solve America’s energy and environmental problems than bureaucrats. If we use technology and innovation and incentives we do not need to raise taxes to clean up our environment.

I support giving tax credits to companies that cut carbon emissions as an incentive to cut pollution. We need to encourage businesses to voluntarily cut pollution and give them financial incentives to do this but, if necessary, we will require them to do so.

We should give tax credits to homeowners and builders who incorporate alternative energy systems in their homes, like solar, wind, and geothermal energy. I support

offering tax credits for people who turn in high-polluting cars.

I support building more nuclear power plants to cut carbon emissions and reduce

our dependence on foreign oil.

We should hold city governments to the same standards for cleaning waste water as are applied to private industry.

We should be prepared to use public funds to preserve green space and parks to protect natural areas from development but especially with public and private partnerships.

Our current dependence on foreign oil threatens our national security by making us vulnerable to dangerous dictatorships. Our current dependence on foreign oil threatens our economic prosperity by making us vulnerable to dangerous dictatorships. We should build more oil refineries in America to lower the cost of gas and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. With appropriate safeguards to protect the environment, we should drill for oil off America’s coasts to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

TAXES AND JOBS

The federal income tax system is unfair. The death tax should be abolished.

I favor a national use tax. Taxpayers in lower income brackets will get a year end rebate. Under this system everyone including those working under the counter and those dealing in unlawful acts would pay there fair share of the tax burden.

We favor the option of a single corporate tax rate of 17% that would lower taxes for some businesses that pay up to 38% while also closing loopholes that some corporations use to pay less in taxes.

The United States has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the industrialized world making it difficult for U.S. corporations to compete internationally which gives incentives for companies to move overseas. This plan will make America

a more attractive place for businesses that provide good paying jobs.

                                                                                  Page4

SOCIAL SECURITY AND RETIREMENT

It is important for the President and Congress to address the issue of Social Security in the next few years.

The current Social Security systems is broken and, if it isn’t reformed, future generations will no longer have it as a safety net for retirement.

In the current system, workers cannot pass onto their family members the money they paid into Social Security. I favor a Social Security proposal in which any money paid into the account would be the property of the worker and that money can be left to family members at death..

FREEDOM OF RELIGION

References to the Creator in the Declaration of Independence are very important. Keeping the reference to “One Nation Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is very important.

I reject the Ninth Federal Circuit Court declaring the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional because the Court believes the Pledge’s reference to God violate the separation of Church and State.

The phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is perfectly in line with the United States Constitution. I reject that this phrase violates the separation of Church and state. Separation between Church and State does not mean there can be no references to God in government sanctioned activities or public buildings.

The best way to ensure religious freedom is to protect ALL religious references and symbols; including those on public buildings, lands, or documents.

It is important to acknowledge today that the references to God in the Declaration of Independence –that we are endowed by our Creator with the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Children should be allowed a moment of silence to pray for themselves in public school if they desire. We must  reject banning all prayer in public schools.                         We must support the right of high schools students saying thanks to God in a graduation speech. I approve of a Christmas tree or a Menorah being placed on public property during the holiday season. We favor a law to protect city, county, and state lands that have crosses or other religious symbols from being removed. Many of the problems our country faces are because America is no longer as religious and moral as it once was and are not a result of changes in the economy, war, public education and other issues. The Founding Fathers understood that religion and morality were important to creating and building this country and talked about it regularly. This was understood throughout American history and is central to America’s success today.

                                                                                   Page5

I reject those who say that just because America has a 200 year history of religion in government doesn’t make it right. I reject that this violates the U.S. Constitution and discriminates against those who are of other faiths or are not religious.

Statements regarding religion and morality made by the Founding Fathers are just as important today as they were 200 years ago.

DEFENDING AMERICA

We must defend America and her allies.

We must defeat America’s enemies.

We have to be prepared to survive an attack by a nuclear, biological, or chemical weapon. Al Qaeda poses a very serious threat for the United States.

It will not be possible to negotiate with terrorist groups like Al Qaeda.

America should take the threat of terror by fanatical religious groups more seriously.

Iran poses a serious threat to the United States.

Hezbollah and Hamas pose a serious threat to the United States.

There should be a death penalty for someone caught and convicted of carrying out a terrorist attack in the United States.

Congress should make it a crime to advocate acts of terrorism or violent conduct or the killing of innocent people in the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies should develop programs to teach Americans what they can do as individuals to help in the fight against terror. Terrorist web sites at home and abroad should be closed down using computer warfare.

Thank you Roger for being there for our party. I wish more could step up here and speak about the change we need in this election. Thankfully white democrates and black republicans get-it! It will be a landslide for McCain as the dems picked the wrong guy and he did not pick the right woman. He is a Young (not really) opportunist at best "Obama" and he struck gold. He can not even beleive what is going on around him right now. The Dems. are in meltdown and know their people voted in the wrong person and they don't know what to do. They will help him loose and hope the Clintons can get back in next time, but their finished too. The great part is finally watching the left wing media try to make something from nothing while melting down too. Go behind the curtain and do the right thing and vote for America/McCain and while you are at it vote for another true patriate......Roger B. Evans

Thank you, and god bless us all

As a young Republican, I am with you on most, but not all of your points. Specifically, I disagree with where you stand on the "under God" phrase. Unlike the reference to the "Creator" in the the Declaration of Independence (which should not be changed as it is an important part of our history) the phrase "under God" was not part of the original pledge. As we are a nation of religious freedom and tolerance, to say that we are a nation "under God" excludes those Americans who may not believe in "God" in the traditional Christian sense.
The phrase was added as a result of urging by the Knights of Columbus in 1954. Justification was given citing Lincoln's use of the phrase in the Gettysburg address, however this justification was flawed as the phrase was akin to "God willing" in that context. That use of the phrase was antiquated even by 1954. If we are truly "one Nation", we cannot exclude those who don't consider themselves "under God" as it is their Constitutional right to make that choice.
My second disagreement is with your hawkish stance on National defense. I do believe that the United States government's most important Constitutional responsibility is the defense of its citizens. I do not however believe that your analysis of the threats to the United States is as thorough as this country needs. I have studied international relations, national security strategy, and comparative politics. In doing so, I have come to realize that many of the "threats" that are touted are threats to the citizens of America as much as they are threats to our country's overseas endeavors. We must respect the right of other people to govern themselves as they see fit. We should take a neutral stand on Israel. The radical government in Iran is not as dangerous as we like to imagine, many of the dangers are created by our trying to force their hands. When dealing in the international sphere, coercion is not a strategy that suits the American ideal. At home, we often go to work with those we do not like. We often find ourselves in conflict with the interests of others in our daily lives. We cannot coerce those who disagree simply because we want them to want what we want. We must cooperate as civilized people. We are within our rights to respond to actual aggression, but preemption and coercive tactics are not acceptable. As a nation, we are a role model for the world. We must not let our interests undermine our virtue.

CORRECTION: I have come to realize that many of the "threats" that are touted are NOT threats to the citizens of America as much as they are threats to our country's overseas endeavors.

To anonymous, so September 11 was just a dream? Our country is not threatened? So you've "studied international relations, national security strategy, and comparative politics". Big deal, have you lived in those environments? My best friends have. Until you have, don't say that "threats" that are touted are NOT threats to the citizens of America"
Wake up and grow a spine. You sound like the idiot young people at a Starbucks who think that having $10,000 up front is better than a penny compounded out for 30 days. Use your brain for more than the internet and an XBox 360.

If it happens to you, then maybe you'll understand.

Sorry Roger, but comments like that are why I also support stripping Americans of their citizenship. That and Loan companies that sold America out for $10,000 instead of the compounded penny.
